Conference 2026 3rd International Symposium on Grassland Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Development Grassland Agriculture
Conference Introduction
Against a backdrop of intensifying climate change and mounting pressures on food security and ecological integrity, grasslands—among the most extensive terrestrial ecosystems on Earth—have drawn increasing global attention for their ecological functions and sustainable management. Grasslands serve not only as major carbon sinks, reservoirs of biodiversity, and livestock production for one‑third of the global population. A balance between the productive and ecological roles of grasslands has thus become a priority for researchers, policymakers and managers worldwide.
Recent years have witnessed transformative advances in big data, artificial intelligence, and gene editing, which are reshaping grassland science at multiple scales. From the development of stress‑tolerant forage varieties through gene editing, to the deployment of integrated space‑air‑ground monitoring networks; from near‑natural restoration approaches for degraded rangelands, to coupled grassland‑livestock‑environment systems for sustainable agriculture is redefining both the research agenda and the management toolkit of grassland agriculture.
It is against this evolving scientific and practical landscape that Gansu Agricultural University, with the approval of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Gansu Province, is organizing the 2026 3rd International Symposium on Grassland Ecological Conservation and Sustainable Development of Grassland Agriculture. The symposium aims to stimulate cutting‑edge research on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, integrative management and sustainable utilization of grass products, while fostering integrated solutions that align ecological protection with productive advancement. We warmly welcome experts, scholars, and postgraduate students from around the world to join us in Lanzhou, to exchange the latest findings and practical insights, and to contribute to a collaborative and innovative future for global grassland ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.
